The greenBOX Nxt is Ecogate's highest-volume controller — the workhorse behind thousands of on-demand dust, fume, and mist collection systems across industrial facilities worldwide. Block #6 is the most significant update to the Nxt since its launch.

New hardware, a Linux-powered operating system, expanded monitoring tools, and a range of software improvements make Block #6 a stronger platform for every facility relying on the greenBOX Nxt today — and a compelling reason to upgrade for those still running conventional dust collection systems.

Deliveries begin at the end of May 2026. And despite a 300% surge in computer component costs, Block #6 ships at the same price as its predecessor.

What is the Ecogate greenBOX Nxt?

greenBOX Nxt

greenBOX Nxt can manage up to 75 gates (workstations) for multiple dust collecting systems.

The greenBOX Nxt is Ecogate's most popular control unit for on-demand industrial ventilation. It automatically monitors and manages Smart Gates (which measure air volume, velocity and pressure), Workstation Activity Sensors, Variable Frequency Drives, Dust Collector Interfaces, and other system devices so the ventilation system delivers airflow only where it is needed in real-time.

In a conventional dust collection system, the main fan runs at full speed regardless of how many machines are actually active. In contrast, an Ecogate-equipped system detects which workstations are running, opens those gates, and continuously adjusts fan speed through a Variable Frequency Drive to match real-time demand. The system also automatically maintains minimum transport air velocities across all duct branches — satisfying NFPA 660 requirements continuously, without manual intervention.

The result: facilities typically reduce dust collection electricity consumption by an average of 66%, with ROI in 1–3 years. The greenBOX Nxt can manage up to 75 gates across multiple systems, making it the right fit for small and mid-size industrial operations that need factory-grade automation without stepping up to the greenBOX Max or greenBOX Master.

New Linux-Powered EcogateOS

One of the most consequential upgrades in Block #6 is EcogateOS — the new Linux-powered operating system developed by Marek Litomisky, Ecogate's Head of Software Engineering.

EcogateOS is designed for the entire Adelie family of Ecogate control systems and built on a customized version of Ubuntu Linux 24.04.4. It gives Ecogate a faster, more secure, and more flexible software foundation for modern industrial ventilation control.

Key advantages:

  • Faster system boot and restart times

  • All software modules run in separate containers orchestrated by Docker, improving reliability and update efficiency

  • Remote updates cover both the Ecogate Adelie software and the underlying EcogateOS itself

  • All remote communications use end-to-end encryption; the greenBOX does not require open internet ports

Network security is no longer optional for connected factory equipment — it is a baseline requirement. EcogateOS has already passed rigorous network security evaluations by major corporate clients in the United States and Europe, and has been tested and validated in live factory environments on both continents.

EcogateOS is designed for the entire Adelie greenBOX family. That means many existing Adelie-based greenBOX systems can also be updated to the new operating platform — not just new Block #6 units.

Up to Three Times More Processing Power with Intel Processor N97

That extra headroom matters because the greenBOX Nxt does far more than open and close gates. A modern Ecogate control system may simultaneously manage Smart Gates, Workstation Activity Sensors, Modbus communication, VFD control, airflow measurement, pressure readings, alarm logic, dashboards, software updates, data logging, remote access, and system analytics. The faster processor gives Block #6 more capacity for these real-time functions and provides room for future software improvements as the Adelie platform continues to develop.

To support longer component life, the computer uses an open-design architecture that improves cooling efficiency. An Ecogate-designed shield protects the hardware with a dedicated power button and dedicated indicators for power and disk activity.

Data Center Series SSD with Power Loss Protection

Kingston DC2000B Data Center series SSD

The Kingston DC2000B Data Center series SSD is a high-performance drive. It features hardware-based Power Loss Protection (PLP) to safeguard data integrity. The drive is engineered for low latency, consistent high IOPS, and a built-in heatsink for effective thermal management. This combination ensures exceptional endurance and dependability for critical systems.

The greenBOX Nxt Block #6 includes a Kingston DC2000B Data Center Series Solid State Disk — a high-performance Gen 4x4 PCIe NVMe M.2 drive built for reliability in demanding environments.

The DC2000B uses 3D TLC NAND technology and includes hardware-based Power Loss Protection to preserve data integrity if power is interrupted unexpectedly. It is engineered for low latency, consistent high IOPS, strong endurance, and thermal stability. A built-in heatsink supports effective thermal management during sustained operation.

For an industrial control system, storage reliability matters. The greenBOX stores system configuration, energy savings data, workstation utilization history, alarm logs, device information, and historical performance records. As Ecogate systems collect more operational data over time, the durability of the storage platform becomes increasingly important. The DC2000B is purpose-built for that kind of sustained, critical workload.

Enhanced 10.1-Inch Industrial Touchscreen

Block #6 also upgrades the operator display significantly.

The new 10.1-inch industrial touchscreen uses a premium IPS panel with WUXGA resolution — 1920×1200 pixels, a major jump from the previous 1024×600 screen. Brightness increases from 300 nits to 400 nits, and contrast improves from 700:1 to 1000:1. The result is a sharper, clearer, easier-to-read interface for operators and technicians working in varying ambient lighting conditions.

The display supports 10-point capacitive touch, giving users a smartphone-style navigation experience across dashboards, monitoring pages, settings, and system information screens.

Connectivity has also been simplified. A new USB-C connection handles power, video, and touch through a single cable between the touchscreen and the NUC PC — replacing the previous two-cable arrangement. This simplifies both assembly and field service.

Ecogate Interface Board Version 9

Ecogate Interface Board V9

Ecogate Interface Board V9

The Ecogate Interface Board Version 9 is the internal hub between the greenBOX computer, field wiring, power supplies, cooling fans, signals, and connected devices. Version 9 includes several improvements that make the control unit easier to wire, easier to monitor, and more adaptable for site-specific applications.

Improvements include:

  • A larger OLED display with improved readability and a capacitive button for page navigation

  • Outputs for two PWM-controlled cooling fans based on the Intel PC standard, with sensor-based speed monitoring and adjustable start-cooling temperature thresholds

  • Expanded programmable relay capacity: two normally open (NO) relays and two selectable NO/NC relays, replacing the previous single NO/NC relay configuration

  • A dedicated buzzer output alongside the existing status light outputs

  • 24V DC gate power supply outputs with adjustable current limits and time delays — electronic fuse-style settings that give technicians better circuit protection and control

  • New onboard LED indicators for 24V DC power status and PC communication status during setup and troubleshooting

  • Upgraded 24V DC power connectors with lever-style terminals that are easier to wire and service

Standardizing these components — including the OLED display and lever terminals — across the Ecogate product family, including the Dust Collector Interface line, reduces costs, simplifies wiring procedures, and increases production efficiency.

User-Programmable Inputs and Outputs

One of the most practical features of the modern greenBOX platform is the ability to program digital inputs and relay outputs through intuitive listbox programming — flexible site-specific control without custom PLC work.

Ecogate customers have already used this capability for winter mode operation, security inputs, filter change warnings, fan and filter pressure monitoring, minimum and maximum pressure alerts, insufficient air volume alarms, and other application-specific logic. Every facility has unique requirements; programmable I/O lets the greenBOX adapt to them cleanly.

New Schaffner Power Entry Module with Fuses and EMI Filter

Block #6 includes a new Schaffner FN9260 power entry module with an IEC C14 socket for a standard C13 power cable. The module includes an electromagnetic interference filter and two integrated 5 mm × 20 mm fuses.

The integrated fuses are required for optional UL certification. The EMI filter reduces electrical noise from VFDs, motors, and other industrial equipment in the facility — a practical improvement for reliability in electrically active factory environments.

Software Improvements: DataMining, Modbus Monitoring, and Airflow Calibration

Block #6 also benefits from a significant round of software improvements introduced across the Adelie family since the Block #5 release.

greenBOX DataMining V1

greenBOX DataMining V1

Built-In DataMining for Energy and System Visibility

The new built-in DataMining page lets users view charts and monitor key system metrics directly from the greenBOX interface, including:

  • Energy savings and overall system utilization

  • VFD power consumption

  • Fan pressure and filter pressure levels

  • Workstation utilization in 5-minute intervals

This data answers the questions facility managers, maintenance teams, and energy managers ask most often: How much is the system saving? Which machines are running most frequently? Is filter pressure climbing over time? Is the dust collection system performing as designed?

All metrics are available for download as CSV files covering the previous 12 months — useful for internal energy reporting, utility incentive documentation, and performance benchmarking.

Improved Modbus Device Monitoring

New Ecogate software Monitoring page

New Adelie software Monitoring page that shows all devices connected to each Modbus port their communication quality, power supply voltage, current, and power. The Pencil icons allow adjustable "start cooling" temperature thresholds, setting electronic fuses current for gates power supply and fuse time delay.

A new Monitoring page shows all devices connected to each Modbus port, along with communication quality, power supply voltage, current, and power readings for each device.

This visibility is particularly valuable during installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting. Instead of guessing whether a connected device is communicating correctly, technicians can see its status directly from the greenBOX interface. The same page provides access to adjustable settings including start-cooling temperature thresholds and electronic fuse current limits for gate power supply circuits.

Automatic Airflow Calibration Tools

The Adelie platform also includes automatic calibration tools for air velocities at gates, branches, and system-wide levels. A dedicated setup page displays air velocities, air volumes, and pressures sorted by duct zone, with color coding to quickly communicate airflow status:

  • Green — airflow is at proper design air volume

  • Orange — airflow is too low

  • Blue — airflow is too high

For on-demand dust collection systems, airflow calibration is critical. The system must reduce airflow when demand is low while still maintaining proper transport velocities and capture airflow where required. Better calibration tools make that balance easier to achieve and verify.

Support for Ecogate Precision Airflow Gates

Ecogate Precision Airflow Gate

Block #6 supports Ecogate Precision Airflow Gates as adjustable bleed gates and signal-controlled devices. Unlike standard open/closed gates, Precision Airflow Gates adjust blade position in 1% increments between fully closed and fully open.

Precision Airflow Gates can be controlled by measured signals including pressure, air velocity, air volume, and temperature — and are especially useful in pharmaceutical facilities, laboratories, and similar environments where minimum airflow must be maintained continuously, even when normal workstation demand is low.

Block #5 Improvements Continue in Block #6

Block #6 carries forward the enclosure and installation improvements introduced with Block #5:

More Powerful Cooling with Easy-to-Clean Filters. The redesigned air inlet and outlet filters deliver stronger cooling performance and are easy to remove and clean. The cooling air inlet is integrated into the enclosure using Ecogate's signature hexagonal design. Better cooling supports longer component life in warm, dusty industrial environments.

Predrilled Holes for Conduit Connectors. The greenBOX includes two predrilled holes for ¾-inch conduit connectors, sealed with silicone plugs when not in use. Important installation note: the greenBOX is not designed to be used as an electrical panel. Do not drill additional holes — metal shavings can cause shorts in the power supply, interface board, or NUC computer motherboard, and will automatically void the warranty.

Streamlined Wall Mounting. The wall mount system requires no drilling into the greenBOX cabinet, keeping the enclosure dust-proof. The mount also creates a gap between the wall and unit, improving cooling airflow around the enclosure.

The Ecogate Design Style. The greenBOX product family features Ecogate's distinctive industrial design by David Vera — bold green enclosure, front-facing layout, hexagonal cooling pattern, and detailed labeling. Industrial equipment does not have to look like a plain gray box. The greenBOX makes Ecogate technology visible and recognizable on the factory floor.

Integrated QR Codes. Each greenBOX includes QR codes linking directly to Ecogate's online resources — how-to guides, installation videos, setup documentation, and product support materials. Technicians can access the right resource while standing in front of the equipment, without searching for manuals or calling support for routine setup questions.

Same Price as Block #5

Despite a 300% increase in computer component costs since Block #5 was released, Ecogate's increased production volume makes it possible to offer the greenBOX Nxt Block #6 at the same price as its predecessor. Block #6 delivers substantially more capability for the same investment.

A Better Upgrade Path for Legacy Systems

Legacy Systems

For facilities still running older greenBOX systems, Block #6 is a compelling reason to evaluate an upgrade. It provides modern remote access, improved analytics, better system visibility, updated hardware, and support for newer Ecogate technologies that older generations cannot access.
