Butterfly Smart Gate

Butterfly Gates are ideal for fume, mist, and light or low-volume dust collection, including pharmaceutical dust, laboratory applications, fume, welding, and mist collection. Also recommended for vacuum systems. These butterfly gastes are equipped with a Smart Motor, which is compatible with Ecogate's On-Demand Control System (greenBOX Nxt, Max and Master models). They measure pressure, air velocity, and volume and are connected in a daisy-chain configuration to the control unit using Ecogate Master Cable.

  • Product Description

    Smart Gates come with magnetic limit switches (they are installed utside the duct, i.e. magnets do not intefere with collected material, for example with metalic dust) and an embedded processor that has Modbus communication capabilities for reading pressure at the gate, as well as air velocity and volume (which require calibration). They are designed to work with Ecogate's greenBOX Nxt and greenBOX Master control units for Smart Systems, where the power supply for the gates is provided by the greenBOX via the Ecogate Master Cable. Additionally, Smart Gates have an input for a workstation activity sensor.

    Required Maintenance: A properly installed gate does not require maintenance. Once per year it is recommended to test gate function by using the greenBOX control unit, and check the butterfly seal.

    Power Supply: (phoenix type pluggable terminal): 24V DC, 0.03 A without gate opening/closing; during opening/closing: 0.1 A (without pressure) - 0.9 A (under 27" w.c. pressure).

    Indicators: Opening = Green LED flashing, Open = Green LED, Closing = Red LED flashing, Closed = Red LED.

    On Board Indicators: Power, Sensor, Modbus, Error, Relay.

    Modbus Terminal: (phoenix type pluggable screw terminal): Modbus RTU over RS485, 19.2kBd, A(+), B(-) data signals; with overvoltage, and overcurrent protection.

    Workstation Activity Input Terminal (phoenix type pluggable screw terminal): Industry standard, optically isolated input; gate board is providing 24V DC, current 10mA (output from sensor can be dry contact or NPN transistor), Normally Open contact is the default, switchable to Normally Closed (by software).

    Relay Terminal (phoenix type screw terminal): The relay contact (max. 24V DC, 0.5A) can be used to connect to the workstation PLC to confirm that gate is open or ventilation is active (relay function is selectable via software).

  • User Guide

    Gates are used to close the ventilation drops at workstations that are not in operation. For best performance, connect to a greenBOX control unit to create an intelligent dust collection system.

     

    Standard angle flanges are used to install the gate in the duct system (gate's angle flange mounting holes are both US and metric).

     

    Adapters to install the gate to Nordfab's QuickConnect duct systems are available from Ecogate (with Purchase Order).

     

    The gate body must be supported in the duct system to avoid pinching the rotating blade.

     

    Install the gate in the straight section of duct, three duct diameters away from workstation hood or duct elbow (at both sides of the gate).

     

    Equipped with magnets for both Open and Closed positions. The magnets are read by limit switches installed in a motor body.
