Established in 1891, Ellis Furniture manufactures an extensive range of attractively-designed furniture products utilising both traditional techniques and state-of-the-art machinery. The company's modern 200,000 sq. ft. factory in Huddersfield, UK manufactures solid timber veneered cabinetry and MFC cabinetry, supplying high street retailers, residential accommodation, schools and other clients.

The company continues investing in new and better machinery, and has committed to an environmental policy and a program of energy-saving. Engineering Manager, Paul Dudley, who leads their drive for energy-savings, says: "Electrical usage is one of our biggest costs, and we identified dust extraction as a major source of electricity consumption. There are twelve extraction fans employed throughout the 65,000 sq. ft. machining and panel production facility, varying in size from 11kW to 55kW."

The Ecogate system was appraised and put in by authorized Ecogate installer Dust Control Systems Ltd. Ellis Furniture did not receive an incentive towards the project, but decided to push it through regardless due to the outstanding energy efficiency of the system.
Ecogate reduced the peak demand as well as total kWh use on all systems, ultimately reducing Ellis Furniture's total electricity bill by 20%.
What sold the Ecogate system to me was its simplicity, with very little to go wrong whilst the extraction is not compromised at all. - Paul Dudley, Engineering Manager, Ellis Furniture
