Ecogate has completed a Dust collecting system power consumption study , and compared the results before and after the Ecogate system installation for Decore-ative specialities and Drees Woodworks. Our study shows eciting results: at Drees Woodwork Inc. (one 250 HP system) , the return on investment ( with incentive) is as short as 5 months , electricity savings of $4822 per month! Decore-ative Specialties average electricity savings during the summer months was $22,506, a return on investment of 12 months .

Ecogate finished exhibiting in the 2001 AWFS Woodworking Fair at the Convention Center in Anaheim, CA. The Fair is the largest of it's kind in the US bringing buyers and sellers together, and showcasing the best products and technology in the industry. Revealing a new booth design, Ecogate experienced a very good response from the industry and received many new orders as a result of its presence at the show.

Ecogate has three brand new products, greenBOX ONE, greenBOX PRO, and a new design of ECOGATE blast gates. Unit greenBOX ONE is a simple, cost effective, controller (approx. $180) for controlling blast gates on one workstation. It can be installed with CNC machinery, sanding machines, and any workstations that are used for only a few hours per day. Ecogate has had successful discussions with several producers of CNC machinery who would like to install Ecogate blast gates and greenBOX ONE with their products.
Another new product is the greenBOX PRO . The greenBOX PRO is a control system designed for industrial-duty installations. The greenBOX PRO uses Omron PLC as a control system. It can control up to 22 workstations and switches on/off the dust collector. The greenBOX PRO does not use a variable speed drive. It is specifically designed for those states in the U.S. with a lower cost of electricity.
ECOGATE'S new design of blast gate was shown for the first time at the exhibition. The gates have the drive at the edge of the rotating blade, and an electronic clutch. These new design features are for industrial-duty systems and for a larger size of ducts.

Customers at our Decorative Specialties plant are very happy with the Ecogate installation. Their energy savings are high, and their projected savings on electricity is $240,000.00 for the year. SC EDISON Incentives have increased! Incentives have increased about 10%-20% over the year 2000 program. There is up to a 20% bonus incentive for peak kW reduction if installed by June 1, 2001. ECOGATE has successfully installed another 3 industrial systems in woodworking factories during March 2001. The energy savings for the three systems are 75% as a result of the installation of the Ecogate System. At the same time a firmware version 2.00 was introduced with a new improved setup of the system, and dust collecting system statistics can be now recorded on a Flashcard and than downloaded at a later time to the Excel spreadsheet file for evaluation. Also new hardware models where introduced: the greenBOX MASTER unit is now equipped with a more powerful industrial computer and can handle up to four dust collecting systems . The Power MASTER unit with variable speed drive now features a sophisticated " Advanced Cooling System ".

New product development announcement : under development is a new, "medium sized" greenBOX PRO controller for industrial installations without the inverter unit (Power MASTER), i.e. where inverter unit is not cost effective (where dust collector is under the 35 HP, working less than two shifts per day). This new control unit will be based on industrial PLC (from Japanese company OMRON), unit will have 21 inputs/outputs. Any recommendation for this new unit will be appreciated (preferably by email: support@ecogate.com ).
