Woodworking

With over 25 years of experience in the woodworking industry, Ecogate has established itself as a leading provider of On-Demand Control Systems for the woodworking sector. Our technology effectively reduces energy consumption in typical woodworking factories by 66%, while in fully automated factories by 50%, and achieves up to 75% energy savings in custom production shops. All leading US woodworking manufacturers are using Ecogate Systems including Andersen Windows, Sauder Woodworking, Ikea, and American Woodmark to name a few. Two of our corporate customers are saving over one million dollars on fans operating cost every year.

Pharmaceuticals

Pharmaceutical labs demand precise control over air velocity and volume in ventilation systems, and Ecogate is unrivaled in providing this precision. Typical applications include tablet presses, coating, fluid bed drying, spray drying, blending, granulation, and general room ventilation. Ecogate's adaptive system adjusts to each environment, ensuring optimal air velocities for any application. Our pharmaceutical customers love the powerful analytics platform that comes with our system. Our installations include multiple GlaxoSmithKline factories, Upsher-Smith Factory, Fortune Pharmacal in Hong Kong.

Welding

Welding shops typically have Active Workstation Utilization significantly below 100%, leading to Ecogate savings between 50% and 80%. Maintaining minimal airflow is usually not necessary in welding shops, allowing for substantial energy savings. In air-conditioned spaces, such as universities and high schools, Ecogate systems generate even higher energy savings on make-up air (the Ecogate system removes less air from the building). Our installations include numerous welding shops at high schools, universities, and even a 70-welding-booth installation for US NAVY Shipyard.

Are you using welding guns?  We developed 2” butterfly gates to be used with a welding gun. The same dust collector can serve more welding workstations if these automated gates are used.

Vacuum Systems

High-vacuum systems are typically used for both cleaning and collecting various materials from different workstations. We use a room inlet valve with limit switches to inform the greenBOX control unit when a specific room valve is in use, allowing it to start or stop the vacuum and maintain proper duct transport air velocities. Ecogate Butterfly Gates are used to open and close the vacuum to the machines and also serve as "bleed gates" installed at the end of branches, as we cannot open room inlet valves to adjust minimal airflow. Pressure transmitters have been upgraded to accommodate higher vacuum levels at gates and greenBOX, up to 200" w.c. (50 kPa). Our installations include a vacuum system at the Upsher-Smith Factory and Fortune Pharmacal in Hong Kong.

Print & Packaging

In most print and packaging factories, average workstation utilization is significantly below 100%, primarily due to job changes, jamming, and maintenance. Maintaining higher air velocities is required compared to the woodworking industry. We have developed an advanced gate capable of measuring air velocity at each drop, enabling our systems to operate efficiently in the packaging and printing industries. Typical savings range from 50% to 65%.

Aerospace & Automotive

Ecogate installations in the aerospace and automotive industries feature clients such as Zodiac, Cessna, Tesla Motors, Rolls-Royce, Williams F1, Boeing, and General Atomics. Ventilation systems are utilized for various purposes, including model shops, fiberglass production, metalworking, fume collection, battery testing facilities, and high-end airplane woodworking shops. Ecogate systems offer a combination of benefits: energy savings, flexibility for workstation adjustments, reduced noise, and decreased make-up air volume. Energy savings are typically 50% and higher, depending on the application.

Food Processing

Food processing industries exhaust a variety of products, including tea, nuts, spices, cocoa, cereals, sugar, or dairy. Key considerations include cross-contamination prevention and compliance with sanitary and food handling regulations. This industry typically requires stainless-steel gates to be used. Precise control over air velocity and volume in workstations is often essential for carefully separating valuable products from unwanted dust, and Ecogate excels in providing this precision. Ecogate works closely with each customer to tailor solutions to their specific needs. Typical installation: Tetley Tea packaging.

Chemical

In chemical processing, it is crucial to collect dust without capturing active chemicals. Ecogate's system measures air velocities at each gate, maintaining the correct range. Air temperature control is common in the chemical industry, and Ecogate systems typically remove 50% less air from the building, reducing the amount of air needed from the makeup air system. The savings on makeup air systems are typically three times higher than exhaust fan operation savings. Installations include Unilever, Vesuvius (ceramics), and Fulflex (rubber products).

Schools & Universities

Ecogate improves the learning environment for students in woodworking and welding classes by significantly reducing noise levels. For many schools, this has been an invaluable added benefit, in addition to the automation and savings. In high schools and universities, the Ecogate system typically achieves energy savings between 66% and 88%. Additionally, the Ecogate system can contribute to LEED certification.
